Dr. Greg Douglas


Former CVO for Saskatchewan, 2009-2012

Dr. Greg Douglas is a veterinarian and partner at Prairie Animal Health Center, with locations in Weyburn and Estevan, Saskatchewan. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Douglas served as Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) for Saskatchewan from 2009 to 2012 and then as CVO for Ontario from 2012 to 2015. During his time as CVO, he played a key role in leading the detection of H1N1 in pigs and humans in collaboration with the Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO) and Saskatchewan Public Health in 2009. Additionally, he managed Canada's first detection of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDv) in Ontario in 2011. His work involved close collaboration with public health officials and industry stakeholders, establishing and maintaining important working groups and relationships in the field of animal health.
